Why the casket was so small (theory)

Last season, a lot of people commented on the size of the casket and theorized that it contained Walt because it was so small and probably a child's casket. In the finale, during the mortuary scene, Jack is shown laying his hands on the casket from a overhead view and the casket is definately too small for a full grown man. But we also now know that Locke is the one inside. What I'm guessing is that Locke did in fact commit suicide like Sayhid said. Why? Because Locke PHYSICALLY lost his legs this time. He did not want to go back living a handicapped life after being blessed with the use of them after arriving on the island. And no matter if the island has healing properties, it can't heal what isn't there. And that is why the casket is smaller than it should be.(Don't need the leg room)

He had legs when he crashed just couldn't use them. He didn't lose his legs. Maybe he does in the future. Don't know.

Do people read the whole topic before commenting anymore? Also it would be nice if people actually watched the episode in question before commenting.

I think it's a full size coffin.
Just the camra angle and perspective that throws it off.
First half lifted up and there was the torso.
Second half would be big enough to contain his legs.
Equal sized lids on the coffin.

Excuse me? I read the comment and have watched the show. I don't appreciate rudeness. I will not respond to any of your comments anymore.

I just watched that scene again and I'm pretty convinced that it's not an illusion caused by the camera angle. Using Jack as a reference and him being right next to the coffin, the size is well established. Now if we were to see Jack several feet in front of the casket and on a straight-forward camera shot, it (might give the illusion of being smaller)but I regress.

Just watched it myself.
Jack walk from one end of the coffin to the other in about 7 steps.
Now assuming that his stride close to a foot given his height then that would make the coffin/casket just shy of 6.5 - 7ft.

Regardless of whether Locke lost his legs after he came to get them back a funeral director isn't going to make a half casket for someone because they don't have legs.
Their proffesion is all about dignity.
So a full sized coffin for a full man, missinf appendages or not.

So I'll Have to firmly disagree to the coffin size.

About the missing legs, I find it hard to belive.
Now losing the use of his legs is plausible. Maybe he came to all of them in a wheelchair.
Don't know. Have to wait and see.

Good idea though. emoticon

ps. about people not fully reading questions.. Mistakes happen, people get tired.
Sure it's happened to you on occassion, I know it has for me.
So, Go with the flow and post it another way. Maybe your point wasn't clear.. who knows..
Kindness is a nice thing to give and even nicer to receive.

Osirisset, you're right about making half-caskets. Not done unless you're a deceased magician's assistant. LOL

I agree it was a camera angle deception probably to throw us off (which it did emoticon ) Either that, or the funeral home had a small one to spare and they, um, just made it fit- yikes! J/K! emoticon
