thoughts on ending
I was not wowed by the whole church scene in the ending. It only managed to mildly satisfy me. I figured they could never tie up all the loose ends and explain everything, but the ending of "they all died eventually and met up to go to the light together" was a bit empty for me. I would have preferred the show ending with Jack's death and the scene of the plane overhead leaving. The whole Lax timeline/alt reality/purgatory or what ever it was, seemed so unecessary with this ending. It appears it never existed. It was only some limbo world in which what..they were all waiting so Jack to finally died? I truly wanted to see that someone, anyone, survived the island, but we don't know whether they did. What happened to the Ajira flight is in question.
The positive part of the ending was that it reminded me that this was really a character driven show. All the hocus pocus magic water, smoke monsters, crystal ball lighthouses and MIB's name did not matter in the end and this is what the finale showed me. It was all about this group of people coming together to redeem themselves. The island will remain a mystery.

Re: thoughts on ending
I thought the ending was good but I would have liked to see the island sink like we saw it in the one episode. That is what I hoping for. But over all it was a big shock. I am still in wow even now that I think about it.

Re: thoughts on ending
I was with them for 2 hours and 15 minutes then I got mad. I "understand" the ending, and I knew I'd never be 100% satisfied, but they've had well over 2 years to write an ending for this show and I think the final "answer" fell WAY below expectations.

Re: thoughts on ending
what answer did you want them to end with? the show was based on these characters and throughout the show these people changed and started to live better lives on the island.

Re: thoughts on ending
I was "satisfied" with the mythology aspect to the finale.
From a character development aspect, the finale exceeded my expectations.
I realize the creators have said they will not do a movie or spin-off, but I also believe ABC will put the pressure on and something else will surface. I have a hard time believing they will let the brand die - too much money to be made. In addition to the already discussed Sawyer/Miles detective show, they have many possibilities:
A more light hearted Island story with Hurley as Protector and Ben as his sidekick.
Or, how about the adventures of Aaron and (Sun/Jin's daughter) as twenty-somethings trying to get back to the Island in search of their roots. They, of course would have some interesting "special" qualities.

Re: thoughts on ending
Sounds like Hurley is the Skipper and Ben is Gilligan.
Also, what about a show revolved around the adventures of Richard Alpert in the modern world.

Re: thoughts on ending
Lost the TV show is done, if ABC wants to continue it it's going to be with out Bad Robot and the show runners. We won't see Josh Holloway on TV, not for a while, he is moving to films to try that out and see how it goes.
Best guess we'll see Lost's back story in a comic book series. Maybe mixed in with Hurley filling the Jacob role and Ben filling the Richard role.
I quite liked the ending, it was needed because of the flash sideways being there and the Flash sideways allowed for some interesting story telling that we wouldn't have gotten.

Re: thoughts on ending
I would have liked to have some idea that these people didn't die alone (to coin a phrase) at whatever point they are supposed to have died. I was all about the character/relationship developments and redemption, but I just think the collective group was given the shaft.
I'm the biggest Lost fan I know here on the outside so I'm in no way saying that the last 15 minutes discounts the whole series. I love it and I'll watch it over and over, even the finale. But I don't think I'll ever be fully satisfied.

Re: thoughts on ending
We never would, I had pretty much come to terms with that.
Sure I would have loved one of those;
"Kate and Claire raised Aaron together in LA."
"Sawyer reunited with Cassidy Phillips and became a part of his daughter's life."
but I'm happy with what we got,Maybe we'll get the rest of the story in some official comic book spin off. Though I'd imagine Claire and Sawyer would stay low and Kate might have some issues unless she get back with out any issues. Which could be tough when a large plane shows up with only 5 people and the pilot on it.
